Elementary Summer Youth Troup Classes

MAY 28 – 31: Stagecraft, A Theatrical Puzzle

Putting together a theatrical production is a lot like putting together a puzzle.  There are tons of little pieces that all have to come together to tell the same story in an entertaining , imaginative or thought provoking way.  Good theatre needs all the puzzle pieces working together to take the audience members to a different world and learn a new story.  During this four day exploration of the theatrical world, students will be exposed to all of the different disciplines that come together to make a production fabulous.  Of course, we will play some great theatre games, but performing won’t be the focus of this workshop.  Students will have the opportunity to explore all things backstage.  Each day we will have a new hands-on stagecraft project allowing kids to design, create, and build as though they are the working member of a theatrical production team.  Some of the costumes, props or set pieces created may even be used in our summer musicals.
