Book by Joseph Stein | Music by Jerry Bock | Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick

This is the tale of Tevye and his family in a changing Russia. Filled with humor, warmth and honesty, it tells the story of traditional family and values across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion. Its universal themes of intergenerational struggle in changing times have made it loved and recognized across the world. Songs include Sunrise, Sunset; If I Were a Rich Man; Do You Love Me; Matchmaker and many others.

Directed by  MARY DOVETON

Assistant Directed by DANNY ROGOVEIN

Music Direction by SUSAN HIRES

Choreography by MOLLY GORDON

The universality of its themes means that we will be looking for a large, diverse cast playing ages 10 through 90. Therefore, performers of all ethnicities, races, genders and abilities are encouraged to audition.

All those auditioning should come prepared to sing a 30 – 60 second cut from a song. Please bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.

Everyone will be asked to learn some dance moves. Those auditioning for the bottle dance will be given more.

Those auditioning may be asked to cold read short monologues from the script.

Scripts are available at the box office with a $10 deposit.

PLEASE NOTE: In an effort to make our audition process more efficient for everyone, Theatre Lawrence is “test driving” a new online system for managing auditions. The website is called Casting Manager (castingmanager.com).

In order to sign up for auditions, you will need to create a free actor profile in the system. When creating your profile please fill it out as completely as possible. This includes uploading a headshot, listing past roles (or uploading a resume), and other relevant information. The good news is once you do this you will not need to fill any of this information out on the audition form for this or any future auditions. You also have the ability to update your profile at any time, not just when signing up to audition. If you audition at another theatre that also uses Casting Manager all your information will travel with you.

We will also use this platform to contact you about call backs and casting, so please make sure that you check the email you use to sign up for your account.

Once again, we are simply test driving this program for the next few shows. If it is useful for you and our production teams, then great, if not, no harm no foul.

Thanks!
